I have a couple of event announcements for you today: Coming up Sunday, July 25th at 2 p.m., the San Francisco Symphony’s annual free concert includes a special tribute to Mexico with an afternoon of musical favorites conducted by rising star Alondra de la Parra, a native of Mexico City. Join in celebrating the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico. Pack a picnic basket and bring your friends and family for the San Francisco Symphony’s free concert in Dolores Park in San Francisco.

And coming up August 30th and 31st in Albuquerque, New Mexico, GAMES THAT MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH: A WORKSHOP IN PLAYFULNESS AS A LIFE SKILL with FUNSMITH BERNIE DeKOVEN.

Laughter Games can be played with large groups, small groups, couples, adults, and children. They are games that involve fantasy and creativity, games that require little or moderate physical activity. Through your participation in this workshop you will learn how to motivate people who are otherwise apathetic and reluctant to exercise to engage in safe and gentle physical exercise under cover of games. Exercise is work but playing is fun. People who play and enjoy their play become animated and are inspired to engage physically more than they would otherwise. Laughter Games are practical tools you can use to help clients and patients diffuse stress and you can adapt these games to the specific abilities and mood of a given group to maximize their benefits.

This workshop is sponsored by the Association for Humanistic Psychology.
